70s Flashback with Keith Green

Yesterday evening I asked T what his favorite song was. He said, "Rejoice in the Lord Always." I took out an old Keith Green CD with a medley that included that song, dusted it off, set the player to "repeat" and we had a hoedown. T, R and I danced all around the living room for twenty minutes or so. R got so into it that when I started doing dishes later she said, "Let's keep dancing Daddy." I need to do the dishes now, R." But dancing is much more fun! Just keep on dancing"

It reminded me of attending church in the 70s and early 80s. The songs we sang were the songs in that medley. They are simple, catchy, and all have similar tunes. Click the play button below and to the left of Keith's face (or right on his face depending on your browser) and see if you can listen without smiling and tapping your feet.

I recommend all of Keith Green's music. This song originally appeared on "The Keith Green Collection" and it's also on "The Ministry Years: Volume 2"

I'm pretty sure I'm okay with copyright here. Keith Green sold his music for "whatever you can afford." He's dead now. If you are the current copyright holder and have a problem with what I've posted, let me know and I'll take it down.

  1. the article of course made me immediately think of our - was it one and only - Welcome Mat? didn't we say that people who didn't like Keith Green needed to question to see if they were truly in the faith?

  2. Keith Green probably changed my life. I loved listening to his music. His lyrics heavily affected me in a positive way. In fact, the simple mention of his name causes me to reflect on love, truth, and a whole hearted commitment to Jesus Christ.

  3. I was also at several of his concerts and was truly inspired by his selfless life. I also own all of his cd's and listen to them on i-pod shuffle!

  4. Can't believe I hadn't seen/heard this posting. I sooooooo remember dancing around to this song when you were Timothy's age. And, by the way, I have a little collection of "Welcome Mats"-- somewhere -- maybe 3 or 4 of them!

    Love,
    Mom

  5. Well Mr. Jeremy, I don't know if you still maintain this blog, but we'll see.

I am interested in singing the songs of Keith Green and saw your blog. There is out YouTube address, emhmusicplus; you can listen to a few of the songs. Probably "How Can They Live Without Jesus" has the best sound quality so far.

If you are "out there," please give some feedback on what you hear; especially if you are the type to put Keith Green on "replay" button.

    Thanks,
